CCA & B

Creatively Classic Activities & Books, or CCA and B, began in 2004 when the mother-daughter team of Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell had a desire to share their family tradition with the world. After their book, The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition, was rejected by the “traditional” publishing world, the duo decided to put the negative responses behind them and “just do it ourselves.” After countless hours of research, writing and prayer the team found an illustrator who shared their vision, a local watercolor artist named Coë Steinwart and The Elf on the Shelf was born. In 2005 Aebersold’s youngest daughter and former QVC program host, Christa Pitts, left the network to join them. The trio created a publishing company under the name of CCA and B.

In 2005, Santa’s biggest secret was finally revealed as the very first book signing was held at the Marietta Museum of History in Marietta, Georgia. Aebersold recounts with a chuckle how they invited 200 of their “closest friends.” “We asked practically everyone we’d ever known…they were all so supportive,” she recalls.

After the signing, the trio began working tirelessly to share their creation. “We had to find a way to get the word out and it had to move beyond our family and friends,” Bell says. So the team began “convincing” local retail stores to carry the product and a word-of-mouth campaign began.

Since then CCA and B has experienced immense growth. Their products have received millions of impressions through media coverage, including recognition on national television morning shows, as well as numerous awards. The Elf on the Shelf product line is now featured in thousands of retail stores across the U.S. and Canada. “We’ve been very blessed over the past few years. We love to hear from families who have embraced our products. It makes the sweat, tears and sleepless nights worth it.” adds Pitts.

Creatively Classic Activities and Books continues to build on its success by seeking out other imaginative talents. In 2009 the company signed a new author/illustrator, Sandy Harsanyi Murphy, and her debut project is set to launch this year.

CCA and B is dedicated to providing quality products at affordable prices. The strategy has always been, and continues to be, to closely follow the guidelines of the company letters: Commit to excellence, Cultivate client relationships, Assume success and Build the brand.
